Albany Angling Club

The Albany Angling Club was formed in 1983 and now has a membership of around 25-30 anglers. The Club is into fishing for the future and is active in fish conservation by having a strict charter to sizes and numbers of fish caught. They have also had input over the years into Fisheries proposals and into rehabilitation of erosion along the South Coast.

The club has had 15 years experience at organising local club competitions. It started the Easter Fishing competition 9 years ago as a way for members of the public to experience the wonderful experience of the South Coast and it's picturesque beauty, while at the same time keeping a family approach to fishing and conservation.

The club was approached by the Albany Telethon Trek following the success of the 2001 Easter Competition with the aim to enlarge the competition and to become a major fundraising event for Telethon. We are pleased to be associated with Telethon in this extended venture where many others can come and enjoy what the South Coast has to offer, both in fishing and in it's beauty, while at the same time helping to support the children of WA.

If you want to become a member of the club you can contact Club President George Penny on 9841 4103 or Vice President Steve Calton on 9841 7002 for more details. The club meets for a weekend fishing trip on the third weekend of each month. It has six open competitions and 6 closed competitions yearly. It also has bi-monthly social functions where the fishing tales become bigger and bigger.
